Lady Tiger golfers in fourth place after one round
March 5, 2012ADA – Only two players broke 80 as the two-day, two-round East Central University Tiger Tangle was launched Monday under warm but windy conditions at the par-72 Oak Hills Country Club.
Northeastern State’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick fired a 4-over-par 76 and held a one-shot lead over Southern Nazarene’s Amanda Arrington (77). Macy Douglas, playing unattached from SNU, was four strokes off the lead after shooting an 80.
NSU holds the team lead with a 325, followed by SNU (333), Rogers State (335), ECU (348) and Seminole State College (367).
ECU’s top score of the day came from Ashley Cardwell, who was 13-over with an 85, which is tied for 15th place. Teammate Emily Wharton is one shot back of Cardwell after posting a first-round score of 86.
Also for the Lady Tigers, Lindsey Lunceford is tied for 18th place after shooting an 87. Sara Posey is 23rd with a 90 and Ilissa Riley-Jaggers finished with a 93, which is 27th after one round.
There are five teams and 30 individuals participating in the event, which wraps up Tuesday with the second and final round. The first tee time is set for 8:30 a.m.
