March 6, 2012ADA – Despite 30-mile-per-hour wind gusts, the East Central University women’s golf team climbed from fourth place to third as the ECU Tiger Tangle wrapped up a two-day, two-round run Tuesday at the par-72 Oak Hills Country Club.
Northeastern State claimed the team and individual titles as Kelsey Kirkpatrick earned medalist honors after finishing at 12-over for the tournament. She shot an 80 on Tuesday after firing a 76 on Monday. She topped teammate Whitney McAteer by six strokes. McAteer had the best round of the day with a 79 after shooting an 83 on Monday.
The RiverHawks posted a teram score of 651 for the team title, followed by Rogers State (684), ECU (692), Southern Nazarene (694) and Seminole State College (738).
The Lady Tigers’ Ashley Cardwell tied for sixth place as she shot an 83 on Tuesday after posting an 85 on Monday. Teammate Emily Wharton finished 11th after rounds of 86 on Monday and 85 on Tuesday.
Also for ECU, Lindsey Lunceford finished 17th after registering an 87-88. Sara Posey ended up 20th with a 90-88 and Ilissa Riley-Jaggers finished 23rd with a 93-88.
Two other Lady Tiger golfers – Shay Shaw and Tess Bullard – played unattached. Shaw tied for 24th with a 92-90 and Bullard was 27th with a 91-102.
