Lady Tigers settle for third in own golf eventMarch 6, 2012
ADA – Despite 30-mile-per-hour wind gusts, the East Central University women’s golf team climbed from fourth place to third as the ECU Tiger Tangle wrapped up a two-day, two-round run Tuesday at the par-72 Oak Hills Country Club.
Northeastern State claimed the team and individual titles as Kelsey Kirkpatrick earned medalist honors after finishing at 12-over for the tournament. She shot an 80 on Tuesday after firing a 76 on Monday. She topped teammate Whitney McAteer by six strokes. McAteer had the best round of the day with a 79 after shooting an 83 on Monday.
The RiverHawks posted a teram score of 651 for the team title, followed by Rogers State (684), ECU (692), Southern Nazarene (694) and Seminole State College (738).
Two other Lady Tiger golfers – Shay Shaw and Tess Bullard – played unattached. Shaw tied for 24th with a 92-90 and Bullard was 27th with a 91-102.
