Lady Tiger golfers in fourth place after one round

DANVILLE, Ark. – The East Central University women’s golf team is in fourth place after one round of the Dave Falconer Memorial Golf Classic, hosted by Arkansas Tech University, Monday at the par-72 Chamberlyne Country Club.

ECU’s Ilissa Riley-Jaggers and Lindsey Lunceford are tied for 12th place after each shot a 10-over-par 82. Jaggers recorded nine-hole totals of 45-39 while Lunceford carved out a 39-43.

Also for the Lady Tigers, Ashley Cardwell (45-42) and Shay Shaw (41-46) are tied for 22nd place as each shot an 87. Emily Wharton is 36th after finishing with a 101 (48-53).

Northeastern State’s Kelsey Kirkpatrick, on the strength of an even-par 72, holds a five-shot lead in the tournament.

NSU leads the nine-team field with a team score of 306, followed by Arkansas Tech (320), Harding (335), ECU (338), Arkansas Tech ‘B’ (342), Rhodes College (345), William Carey (367), Arkansas-Monticello (420) and Southern Arkansas (459).

There are 42 golfers in the event. The second and final round is set for Tuesday.
