Qumain Black and
Fred Gaines have both been named to the
Don Hansen All-Super Region Three Third Team. Black was named to the team as a corner back and Gaines as a safety.
The
Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published
Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
A total of 110 players earned some form of
Don Hansen All-Super Region Three honors. Players from 38 of the 47 football-playing schools in Super Region Three earned All-Region accolades.
This is the second post-season honor for black, who was named to the All-Great American Conference First Team. Black finished the season with 15.5 total tackles (9-13), one tackle-for-loss, one fumble recovery, three interceptions, one defensive touchdown and six pass breakups. The Ada, Okla., native recorded two of his interceptions in the opening game of the season against Arkansas-Monticello and returned one for an 80-yard touchdown.
Gaines picks up his third post-season honor, after being named to the
Beyond Sports Network All-America Second Team and the All-GAC First Team. Gaines had a strong season, recording 54.5 (42-25) total tackles, six TFL, two interceptions and five pass breakups. The Fresno, Calif., native had his best game of the year at Harding (Nov. 9) when his garnered 13.5 (11-5) total tackles, including five TFL (10 yards).
